Photo Workshop In Melbourne, Australia
No new workshop scheduled for Melbourne at this time.
Melbourne is awesome and I will be running another photo workshop there in the future. If you wish to be kept informed about my workshop schedule, please sign up here
It’s all about learning to see and that is exactly what we will be doing in the course of this photo workshop. Best of all, the backdrop for this exciting photographic adventure will be beautiful and friendly Melbourne, Australia!
Learn how to include people in your frame with a gentle approach to street photography. From street portraits to candid shots, every day will bring new opportunities to practice techniques and get over the fear of photographing strangers in the street.
We will also spend time learning how to make stronger images by deciding what to include and, more importantly, what to leave out of the frame. Learn to see and work a scene to express your vision.
This workshop will give you the tools to create story telling images wherever your travels may take you and your camera. You will also learn how to turn any photo walk in a familiar place into an exciting adventure by learning to see the extraordinary in the mundane. This workshop is designed to fit beginner photographers as well as more experienced ones.
The workshop will start with a classroom presentation followed by our first photo walk. We will explore new neighborhoods daily and practice techniques learned in the field. From St Kilda to the famous Melbourne Laneways, from the Royal Botanical Gardens to the Fitzroy neighborhood, you will learn how to tell a story through your lens.
This five day workshop will end in the classroom with a photo critique. We will stay together for a farewell dinner at a nearby restaurant on the beach in St Kilda.
You will leave the workshop with a renewed vision and confidence as well as new friends who share the same passion for the beautiful craft of photography.
Where: We will meet in a conference room located in the Eildon Mansion in beautiful St Kilda. A detailed classroom and photo walk schedule will be sent out to participants 2 months prior to the workshop.
(The good-bye dinner at a beach-front restaurant in St Kilda is included in the tuition. All other meals, accommodations and transportation are not included in the cost.)
Gear: I encourage participants to shoot with gear that they are very familiar with, whether it is a dslr, a mirrorless system or a point and shoot.
Remember that this workshop is all about vision. The camera is only a tool to express that vision.
You will need a laptop computer during our critique sessions. You can use the processing software you are most familiar with. Please note that I will not be teaching how to use Lightroom during this workshop and you need to know how to use the processing software of your choice ahead of time.
"You can't say enough about the enthusiasm and interest Valerie puts into making each participant feel like it's their personal day. And as an experienced photographer you wouldn't expect a workshop like "Seeing Photographically" to add many new ideas... this does. If you love photography, I can't think of a better guide." John Brooks - Media Arts Instructor - Central Community College - Hastings, NE
"Once again, I was fortunate to attend another of Valerie's workshops, this time in San Diego, the first in Paris. As usual, Valerie was helpful and full of information, opening our eyes to potentially great shots. I came home with a multitude of wonderful memories and images, and would highly recommend Valerie's workshops to anyone wanting to improve their photography and have a great time." ~ Denise Lawry ~ Melbourne, Australia
"Valerie's love for and skill in capturing moments is contagious!" Melanie, Madison, MS.
"Valerie expanded my imagination & my confidence, helping me see the unusual in the usual, beauty in ordinary things, and recognizing & appreciating my budding talent. Thanks, Valerie! I can’t wait to participate in another workshop with you!” Nancy N
"In thinking about what you offered us as learning opportunities, considering value received and my earlier life experiences, I can honestly say that I learned volumes beyond my expectations and at an excellent price point." Martin McKenzie, Columbia, SC
