New York City Street Photography
March 1 & 2, 2018
On Day 1 we will meet in the classroom for a presentation during which we will be discussing the different ways to approach street photography. We will go over the ethical aspect of this popular genre of photography, the do's & don'ts and how to get over the fear of photographing strangers in the streets. From candid shots to street portraits, we will look at different techniques to tell a story in a frame. Immediately following the presentation we will go on a photo walk to practice newly learned techniques.
Day 2 will start with a photo walk and end in the classroom for a post processing and critique session.
Cost to attend this workshop: $650. CLICK HERE for details and registration.
"Dear street shooters: If you are thinking about doing a street photography workshop with Valerie all I can say is JUST DO IT! You will not regret it! You will learn so much from Valerie's workshop, watching how she shoots, and how she finds the light. It's a great chance to explore a new city you've always wanted to visit or even revisit. You will also meet new like-minded people in the workshop, many which will become new friends that will support you on your photography journey. I have taken a couple of Valerie's workshops from Minneapolis to NYC, and each time I have learned new techniques and found ways to improve my vision. I will treasure these experiences for the rest of my life!" - Shawn Brezny, Minneapolis MN
"Having followed Valerie on FB for several years, I was absolutely thrilled that my registration was accepted for her 2016 NYC workshop! It was my first time to NYC and my first street photography workshop and I came away with a much greater appreciation of how difficult good street photography can be. Valerie emphasized the importance of telling a story and gave us many helpful pointers and tips on being successful. Her love and passion for hitting the streets with her beloved Fuji came through loud and clear. It would be hard to find anyone who loves their job more than Valerie and it shows in her photographs, her work ethic and her connection with her students." ~ Nancy Carroll, Cuchara, CO
"After the workshop's two days of instruction and on-the-street photography, each of us felt that our street photographic skills had attained a new level of professionalism. Valerie’s guidance, suggestions, and instruction were inspiring and spot-on. The caliber of students who signed up for the course was very impressive—much was learned by observing and interacting with them. The days were fun, challenging, and rewarding. It's easy to see why Valerie is the best street photographer and instructor anywhere!" ~ Joe Routon, Haddonfield, New Jersey
