What students have to say about their photo workshop experience:
"For anyone who hopes to acquire or enhance their Street Photography skills Valerie Jardin's Minneapolis Workshop is a transcendent experience. Both classroom and on-the-street portions of her workshops are well planned, prepared and executed. She is a thoughtful, respectful, and imminently friendly teacher." Byron Annis; La Crosse WI
"The workshop has been one of my best experiences so far as a photographer. Valerie summarized her street photography principles so well; and with such enthusiasm and energy, that I felt my photography improving even with the first shooting session." Rick Riddle, Minneapolis, MN
"I can’t express how pleased I am with the progress I made with my street photography after just a short weekend with Valerie. She has an extraordinary way of seeing and capturing the beauty of everyday things that we take for granted. I am definitely looking forward to participating in another workshop soon!” Monique from Minneapolis
"What a fantastic workshop Valerie! I feel we had the perfect balance of just enough classroom time to street shooting time. It was so much fun watching and learning from you during the workshop. We had a great set of varied locations which was perfect and kept things fresh and interesting each time we went out to shoot. I can't wait to attend more of your workshops from other locations in the future. Thanks for the fun and learning experiences!" Shawn Brezny Twin Cities, MN
"This workshop gave me my license to shoot the street. With your coaching and encouragement, I had the tools and confidence to capture some great shots. Thanks for opening up a whole new world for me! Minneapolis is a great city, and I look forward to sharing more pictures with my new street gang!" Adam Miller Chicago, IL
"I learned a lot about street photography from Valerie. She was exceptionally clear at explaining the various modalities (silhouette, motion, candid, portrait, etc.) of street photography. It was very helpful for me to think how I would like to shoot each situation." - VWK, Minnesota
"Valerie was gracious in sharing her love for street photography. She was approachable when I had questions and gracious in her time to provide further guidance." Sheryl, St. Paul, MN
“Valerie provided a terrific learning experience that was relaxed and very useful.” — Jesse, Anchorage
“I really enjoyed Valérie’s street photography workshop. It was a great learning experience. Although I take lots of pictures walking the streets of a city, that is the first time I was “shooting street photography”. Her process puts you in a more focused state of mind and pushes you to appreciate the little details that day to day passersby often overlook and unnoticed.” Serge M. Indianapolis, IN
"I have taken numerous photography workshop classes over the years and what separates Valerie’s workshop is the detail critique of photographs by the participants. Other instructors will say photos are “nice, look good, like the composition, etc”. Valerie gets down to detail like, “crop out that sign”, “use a square crop and remove the pole”, “increase the highlights”, “good photo, but would be better in B & W”, “photo is over exposed, reduce exposure” etc. Valerie knows what it takes for a picture to standout. The critique pulls it all together." Willie G. Hudson, WI
"Thanks Valerie for a wonderful Street Photography workshop. Two things set this apart and made it a truly worthwhile experience: First, an inspirational and supportive environment to experiment and learn. Second, a wonderful and diverse group of participants from a variety of backgrounds and interests, all united in a common passion for photography. Highly recommended!" Denis, NJ
"You can't say enough about the enthusiasm and interest Valerie puts into making each participant feel like it's their personal day. And as an experienced photographer you wouldn't expect a workshop like "Seeing Photographically" to add many new ideas... this does. If you love photography, I can't think of a better guide." John Brooks - Media Arts Instructor - Central Community College - Hastings, NE
